Tasha Franklin
2017 - Present

Tasha grew up training in all genres of dance at a young age. After high school she attended Trinity Valley Community College from 2000-2002 as a member of the Cardettes Drill Team and was a Lieutenant her last year under the direction of Darla Mansfield. She then went on to Texas Woman’s University and graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance. While there she performed in numerous graduate pieces and was a member of the company Danceworks.

 

After college she  continued training by attending numerous dance workshops and dance classes in the DFW area. In 2009, Tasha became the assistant drill/dance director of the Duncanville High Hats and freshman drill/dance director of the Showstoppers. Those teams performed in numerous parades and even the Super Bowl XLV halftime performance with the Black Eyed Peas, Slash and Usher in 2016, Tasha moved out west to San Diego, California and was the dance teacher and co-director of 4 dance teams at San Marcos High School. As well as the Artistic Director for Point Loma High School.

 

After two years she decided to move back home to Texas to become the dance teacher and head director at Irving High School. Tasha is a free-lance choreographer for high schools/universities who have won numerous awards for Choreography and their Division. She has choreographed for the D-League Texas Legends Dancers and had the pleasure to be an American judge for Miss Dance/Drill Team of Japan 2014 & 2018 in Osaka, Japan, as well as teaching hip-hop and contemporary workshops in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo, Japan. 

 

In the summer of 2018 she had the pleasure of taking an All Star Dance Team to Osaka as the Artistic Director. Tasha is going into her 17th year as an adjudicator,  hip hop staff captain and officer staff for American Dance/Drill Team School. Tasha was also chosen as one of the Top 10 Choreographers to contribute choreography for Texas Dance Educator Association (TDEA) Director Scholarship 2022 and 2023.

Lucy Lucey
2021 - Present

Ms. Lucey has been a proud Irving High Tiger for 11 years. In this time Ms. Lucey has taught in the Biomedical Science Academy, served as a Student Council Sponsor for multiple classes and currently serves as the Tiger Fever and Guard Spirit Sponsor. She is highly involved with everything her students participate in outside of the classroom. She believes that building strong relationships with students is the key to helping them find out who they are as individuals.

 

Ms. Lucey’s connection with the Toy Tigers began in the 2012-13 school year, when her daughter auditioned and made the team as a line member and eventually served as a dance officer. She supported the team in various ways while her daughter was an active member. For the past two years, Ms. Lucey has proudly served as an officer judge for the Toy Tigers.

 

Ms. Lucey graduated from the University of North Carolina with degrees in Business Administration and Chemistry. She is the mother of two adult children and 3 dog children.
